Concussion management at this afternoons Indy 500 will be better controlled through head injury technology. A product called I-Portal Portable Assessment Systems known as IPAS uses a virtual head set that measures and records involuntary movement of the pupils. Symptoms like balance and dizziness neural biomarkers are measured to give doctors better insight when it comes to the management of concussions.
The product developed by Neuro Kinetics will give doctors and management better tools to help diagnose concussion or other conditions such as, migraines, ear infections and vertigo. With the assistance of IPAS, medical staff will be better equipped to track any deterioration in Indy drivers which will allow them to better control driver safety.
